This post is a little off topic from what I normally write about.
You may not know that I proudly give a discount on all home inspections to active duty soldiers, veterans and retired military personnel. My wife is an Iraq War Veteran and at Mountains to Sound Home Inspection, we love America and our soldiers.
Recently, I did an inspection for a retired US Army Sergeant who had served on multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He was severely injured in an IED blast that killed several of his friends. The blast blew him 150 feet and his injuries included a severely injured right arm that was eventually amputated above the right elbow. The IED also blew off his right foot and mangled his leg which was later amputated above the knee. Other injuries included a severe concussion, lacerations to the neck and face and severe hearing loss. His wife had recently given birth to their first son who is now 4 years old. They are also expecting their second child; a baby girl.
As I finished the inspection and witnessed this man with his family, and the remarkable attitude he has for his life, I couldn’t but help to get choked up as I shook his left (and only) hand, and thanked him for his service and his sacrifice. Without hesitation, he told me he would do it again.
The sacrifice of our soldiers is real. The price for freedom is great.
